Hmmm… My first post. Do I try to make it profound and have it come out as maudlin or just write random sporadic thoughts about myself. What the heck lets do both and see what happens.
Change is good; or so I’ve been told. I don't always agree with that statement, but what the heck. The ability to adapt, accept and blend change to your current life is critical. Not all ways easy but critical. There are two major ways that change happen in our lives. Firstly those things we actively seek out to do for ourselves and secondly those that are thrust us.
I am forever seeking self change. A good example of this is as we entered the new millennium I made myself a list.
Ten Goals for Ten Years
1. Learn to speak French.
2. Learn sign language.
3. Improve my skiing by three levels.
4. Send cards and letters more often using funky stamps.
5. Ride in a helicopter.
6. Pay off the MasterCard them get our eyes fixed.
7. Say No or Yes when I want to.
8. Express myself.
9. Accept other for who they are.
10. Enjoy life.
That was seven years ago. I haven’t even touched 1 or 2. Number 3, yes my skiing has improved greatly but three levels, not yet. Number 4 I always use funky stamps but not more often. Number 5 hopefully this summer when I do the Assiniboine hike. Number 6 yes I’ve done that. Most telling are numbers 7-10. The things I set out to do that most improve me as a person, for myself, I’ve done. I am very happy with what I’ve accomplished with my goal list. Some of my goal are no longer as important to me as they used to be and other with always be a work in progress. These are some of the changes that I’ve actively sought out for myself.
Those that are thrust on us, changes that we have little or no control over, these are harder. I know its a minor thing when compared to things that could be hapening in our lives but the new maybe job of Flips is killing me. I am willing accept the change when it happens, if it happens. I already have seeds of ideas that I’m ready to plant and tend for my future but I can’t do anything with them until I know what, if any thing, is happening. I am so tired of this waiting game. I should probably start my next Ten Year Goal List with 1. Patience-learn it then use it.
